How we build these

Curaçao, day by day

The island is small, but the drives add up, so we group each day by road: the west end on one day, town on another, the water on a third. A few fixed points shape every plan. Thursday night belongs in Punda. Mermaid, our pick for Klein Curaçao, doesn't sail on Thursdays. The Christoffel summit climb has to start by 10 AM. And Plasa Bieu, the old market hall for lunch, is closed on Sundays.

The four rules every itinerary follows 1. Thursday = Punda. Fireworks at about 8:15 PM, best from the Cascada rooftop on the 4th floor of the Elements Hotel, or anywhere along the water (from our visits). 2. Klein Curaçao is never a Thursday with Mermaid, and never the day after a late night: boarding is 06:45. 3. Early starts for the north. Christoffel climbs start by 10:00; Shete Boka stops admitting at 15:00. 4. Car days are grouped. If you rent, rent for the west-end and north days only.
